2018 was a record year for Schleich and there are further growth plans set for the next five years, as Paul Dearlove explains.
2018 marked a year of positive change for Schleich. The company has experienced record growth in tough market conditions, achieving its best ever result, while it also welcomed a new head for the UK in the form of Thomas Randrup and strengthened its sales team.
“We have ambitious growth targets for the next five years,” Paul Dearlove, the company’s trade marketing manager begins, “and on the back of a record year in 2018, we aim to make further significant progress in 2019.”
Farm World continues to be the company’s key driver in the preschool space, with parents putting together a whole farm of familiar animals for their children to play with.
In-store gains
Paul believes that Schleich sets itself apart when it comes to its retailer in-store activity.
“In 2018 we established several flagship stores with superb displays, with life size models of our figurines,” he explains. “By far the most eye-catching example must be the recent installation of the White Tiger and Waterfall feature in Hamleys. It’s a real show stopper and has had such a dramatic impact on sales.
“We have also featured our Giant T-Rex in several in-store events and there are a number of giant Lions out there in the wilds of the high street! But it’s not just about these larger features, we have a wide range of POS solutions to suit all sizes of retailer and display space.”
