Buying group members keeping business going through lockdown with many offering local deliveries to help parents keep children entertained.
Independent toy retailer members of the Toymaster buying group have been coming up with ways to keep business going as much as they can during the lockdown, with many starting up local delivery services – including by bike in one case.
Bambola Toymaster in Jersey is one of the indies now offering a delivery service, with the buying group highlighting its construction toys to help children get creative.
Gliddons Toy Shop in Sidmouth has expanded its deliveries to include Newton Poppleford, Ottery and Sid Valley, while Kids Stuff in Wells is offering free delivery to customers’ doors on orders over £20 in the Wells, Shepton Mallet, Glastonbury and Street areas.
Aladdins Cave in Guernsey has launched a new home delivery service with next day local delivery, while Julia from The Trading Post, Kingsbridge has even been cycling round town to complete next day deliveries for customers in the TQ71 postcode.
Both Argosy Toys (Westcliff on Sea) and JAC Stores (Isle of Man) have also been busy making deliveries, with the latter’s new online shop being a hit with customers, with the indie delivering over 600 orders between March 30 and April 5.
Kerrison Toys in Norwich has also been busy packing up online orders for courier and local delivery.
A number of members have also been highlighting sales – Salter Street Toys & Models in Stafford has 20% off many items until the end of April, for example – as well as their outdoor toys offer, including The Toy & Book Warehouse in Pickering and Enchanted Wood in Farnham.
