Stars step out for new Thomas movie premiere

Peter Andre and other celebrity guests walk the blue carpet to celebrate global premiere.

The weekend saw over 400 fans of Thomas the Tank Engine – including guest star Peter Andre and other celebrities – walk the blue carpet to celebrate the global premiere of the latest movie.

Taking place on Saturday July 5 at Vue cinema in London’s Leicester Square, the premiere screening introduced fans to the new 80-minute CG-animated special, Thomas & Friends: Big World Big Adventures.

It will be showing at 400 cinemas throughout the UK from July 20 before it then hits screens around the world.

Peter (pictured) brings to life the character of Ace, a bright yellow and cheeky Australian rally car who inspires Thomas to leave his home of Sodor and travel around the world with him.

The new movie is the 13th feature-length film to be produced by the  franchise and the first to hit screens following a major refresh to its content which will see a new series of the same name, Thomas and Friends: Big World! Big Adventures! launch in September.

This makes the movie the most ambitious and anticipated Thomas & Friends release to date, as the brand continues to evolve to ensure it remains relevant for the next generation of parents and children around the world.

“The brand is undergoing a huge evolution to ensure it remains competitive for today’s audiences and this movie exemplifies this in a wonderful way with entertaining content that will help children discover and learn about the bigger world with a trusted friend,” said Kate Schlomann, vp and general manager for Thomas & Friends.

“The new movie also offers the brand several new opportunities across the franchise from theatrical events to consumer products, as well as a range of new exciting toys. This is a huge year for Thomas & Friends.”
