Two major retailers have reinstated Gummee Glove as the brand has continued to defend itself following a recent negative Which? safety report.
Following a number of conversations with Gummee Glove founder Jodine Boothby, both Argos and Amazon have now relisted the popular teething product.
“We’re absolutely delighted that Amazon and Argos have decided to relist the Gummee Glove,” said Jodine. “It’s been a hugely popular product for both retailers in the past so I’m over the moon that their product compliance teams have taken the decision to continue to work with us in helping soothe teething babies everywhere!”
The Which? story first made the news when six popular teething toys failed its standard safety tests, which had been designed to see whether any parts of the toy could either detach or potentially choke a small child.
One of these was the Gummee glove, which failed the tests on both counts. As a result of the report, the Gummee glove was initially removed from sale in both Argos and Amazon.
A Which? spokesperson told PreschoolNews.net: “The Gummee Glove we tested to the British and European Standard at an accredited laboratory failed on two separate tests – one which assessed whether any parts that detach are small enough to be swallowed or inhaled, and another that looked at whether a teething toy could block the throat of a child who is too young to sit up unaided.”
They continued: “We take safety extremely seriously. As with any testing, one failure is one too many, and our results raised serious concerns about the safety of the product. “
