Rainbow Designs applauds retail window initiatives

Supplier has been running two competitions focusing on The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Elmer.

Rainbow Designs has been celebrating the anniversaries of two high profile children’s book characters this summer by encouraging retailers to get involved in a window display competition.

The company launched two separate competitions encouraging retailers to design window or interior displays for Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar, which is 50 this year, and David’s McKee’s patchwork elephant, Elmer which turns 30.

Retailers from all over the UK dressed their windows and internal displays using POS materials from Rainbow, along with any other materials and character products they chose to use.

The winner of The Very Hungry Caterpillar display was Celebrations of Stourbridge (main image), while Giddy Goat Toys in Manchester was victorious with its Elmer extravaganza.

The Elmer display was won by Giddy Goat Toys in Manchester.

“There were some truly magnificent and colourful window displays lining the high street during the month of May,” said Anthony Temple, md of Rainbow Designs. “All the entries were highly creative and showed some well dressed displays, it was an extremely close run race on both competitions.”

Mark Standen, sales manager at Rainbow Designs, added: “We were delighted with how many of our retailers embraced the opportunity and joined in with the fun. It was a great way to celebrate the milestone birthdays of these much-loved characters that really have stood the test of time.”

Rainbow Designs will reward both retailers with free stock as the prize for their time and effort in creating the displays.
