Company wins the Baby & Infant category with its Playmobil 1.2.3 Aqua play world.
The winners of the Spielwarenmesse ToyAwards 2020 have been crowned, and a familiar preschool name walked away victorious.
The five winners were applauded during the Opening Show for the event – which is running in Nuremberg until February 2 – with the products, as well as those from fellow nominees, being display in the TrendGallery in Hall 3A.
Playmobil took the plaudits in the Baby & Infant category (0-3) for its compact play world for toddlers, Playmobile 1.2.3 Aqua.
The crank on the side produces a stream of water in which figures and boats merrily spin around. The play features, which train toddlers’ fine motor skills, are all marked red. The basic set comprising steps, boats and figures can be expanded to include a water wheel, a slide and much more. Praising the concept, the jury stated: “Outstanding features include its high-quality design and intuitive functionality.”
Meanwhile, the Preschool category (3-6) was won by the modular Knight’s Castle Ball Track from Gollnest & Kiesel which the judges praised as being able to “develop motor skills and sense of three-dimensional space”.
The winners were selected by a jury of 16 experts including scientists, market researchers, educationalists, international sales agents, a blogger and a toy safety expert. The jury members judged the entries based on the criteria: originality, safety, potential at retail, fun factor, accessibility of the play concept, as well as workmanship and quality.
Other categories included School Kids, Teenager & Adults and Startup.
