Preschool brands Rockit, Mori and Bambino Mio were among 232 businesses from across the UK and a range of sectors recognised by Her Majesty The Queen on her birthday as among the best in the country.
Rockit (N2M Ltd) was one of only seven companies in the UK to achieve two Queen’s Awards for Enterprise in 2022. The company was recognised for its excellence in both international trade and also innovation.
Rockit inventor and co-founder, Dr Nick Webb, said: “I invented our first product to help my own daughter to sleep when her pram stopped moving. All our products including the Rockit stroller rocker have innovation at their core and are now sold all over the world, so it is particularly satisfying to win both the innovation and international trade awards.”
Co-founder and director, Matt Dyson, added: “It is a fantastic achievement to be honoured with two Queen’s Awards, especially given that we are such a small team and have to turn our hands to all aspects of the business, from design innovation through to marketing, sales and logistics. We are so excited to be invited to Buckingham Palace in July to receive our awards.”
Bambino Mio received its second Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development, recognising the firm’s commitment to sustainable practices with a positive pursuit to make reusable nappies the first choice for parents to reduce the waste that single-use disposable nappies create.
Previously Bambino Mio was also awarded the International Trade award in 2020.
Guy Schanschieff, founder and managing director of Bambino Mio, commented: “Further royal recognition from such a prestigious awards body is something that our team is extremely proud of.
“This is another accolade that acknowledges to the world that we are committed to sustainable development practices and are on a mission to make reusable nappies the first choice to reduce single-use disposable nappy waste.”
Mori won the Queen’s Award for International Trade for outstanding short-term growth in overseas sales over the last three years. Mori’s overseas sales have increased by 2000% during the period, increasing from £115,541 to £2.45m.
Akin Onal, founder of Mori, commented: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category this year. We are so proud of the strong growth we have achieved in taking our brand overseas, and the fact that its success is recognised by the most prestigious award in the UK, the Queen’s Award, is a great honour.
“This prestigious award is a true testament to the hard work of our team and suppliers, and continue support of our customers and wholesalers.”
Small Business Minister Paul Scully said: “This country is renowned for its entrepreneurial achievements and there is no greater showcase for it than The Queen’s Awards. It’s vital we celebrate the success of our businesses and recognise the contributions they make to communities across the country. I congratulate this year’s winners for their hard work and commitment over the last year and I wish them every success for the future.”
