Nursery brands get Queen’s Award for Enterprise

Nursery brands iCandy and Cheeky Chompers were delighted to receive the Queens’ Award for Enterprise last week, for innovation and international trade, respectively.

The prestigious awards are for outstanding achievement by UK businesses in either innovation, international trade, sustainable development or promoting opportunity through social mobility.

This year is the second time that the luxury pushchair brand iCandy has received the award, which has been awarded for the company’s outstanding contribution to contemporary British product design and engineering and is a true testament to iCandy’s dedication within this field.

This year’s award is particularly poignant for iCandy as 2018 also marks the company’s 85th anniversary in business.

“This is the achievement of our quite extraordinary team at iCandy, both here in the UK and within our iCandy global operation,” says iCandy joint ceo Bradley Appel. “We are confident that the endorsement of a second Queen’s Award can only assist iCandy’s commitment and will give our worldwide customers even more confidence in building long-term relationships based on trust and respect.”

Meanwhile, Cheeky Chompers – the Edinburgh based multi award-winning brand behind the original chewy dribble bib, the Neckerchew – has been named as a recipient of the award for its outstanding international trade.

With more than one million products sold to date, the full range is now available in 36 markets with exports accounting for 70% of turnover with the USA, China and Taiwan their biggest markets.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have been awarded a Queen’s Award for international trade just five years into business,” saidco-founders Julie Wilson and Amy Livingstone. “It is a great recognition of our success in overseas markets and a tribute to the effort of our small , dedicated team in Scotland and our relationships with overseas partners, which drives our significant year-on-year growth.”
