With Spielwarenmesse kicking off this week, we catch up with some exhibitors to find out what they have planned.
When Spielwarenmesse opens its doors in Nuremberg from January 30 to February 3, it will be taking place for the 70th time.
Almost 3,000 exhibitors from 68 countries head to the show, with 75% of exhibitors travelling from abroad. More than 70,000 visitors from 130 countries then pack into the halls to check out the vast array of product.
For preschool companies, the show is a must attend, with Eduk8 Worldwide’s md, Christine Lawson, describing it as its “European shop window”.
She tells PPS: “It gives us the opportunity not only to meet existing customers, but also to attract new business. We hope buyers will be attracted to our stand and appreciate the fact that our range is exclusive, so our unique designs are not available elsewhere.”
UK impact
The UK pavilion for 2019 has once again seen an increase in size and numbers, Stuart Whitehill, account director at Overseas Fairs Division, tells PPS.
Newcomers include Barney and Buddy, FOCO, Sinco Toys, Paladone and MuddleIT, while regular exhibitors with preschool specific product include WOW Toys, Sport and Playbase, M Richard, Kit for Kids and Early Years Resources.
“This is the 70th anniversary of Spielwarenmesse, so we expect lots of extra promotional activity and celebrations,” says Stuart. “[At the show] we’d like to continue to help raise the presence of the UK group amid stiff competition from other national pavilions.
“The UK area has been steadily growing now for the past 14 years and our aim is to continue with this growth and, all the time, introducing new companies to Spielwarenmesse.”
