Head of toys and children’s gift for plaY-room AIS will step down at the end of September after 12 years.
Miles Penhallow – head of toys and children’s gift at plaY-room AIS – is to take early retirement at the end of September, he has confirmed.
Miles (pictured above) has been at the company for 12 years and has been instrumental in its growth.
Following his retirement, Miles revealed that he plans to manage a small property portfolio and pursue other personal interests.
“Although the past few months have been challenging for both members and suppliers, I believe that AIS is well placed to prosper in the future,” Miles commented. “Following the retirement of our managing director Sheila Cooper, I believe that her replacement – Sue Kemp – will provide the necessary drive, together with an enthusiastic team of employees and a solid membership.
“I will miss the interaction with both members and suppliers, but believe that the successful blueprint that we created for play-room when formed in 2008 will continue to evolve to the benefit of our members under new leadership.”
Miles added: “I would like to wish everyone in the trade all the best in the years ahead. I truly believe that I am blessed to have made a living in the toy trade for over 30 years and will miss all the friends that I have made.”
Aimee Hill, assistant selector for plaY-room AIS, commented: “Miles has been pivotal in the growth and success of plaY-room’s 12-year history. His charisma and dedication will be missed not only within AIS but also within the wider toy industry, where he has made many close friendships.
“He may be beginning his next exciting chapter, however his innovation, fun and enthusiasm for toys will live on in plaY-room. We would like to extend our endless gratitude for Miles’ service and wish him good health and happiness during his retirement.”
