Leading child’s car seat designer JMDA Design has secured its place in the design archives, thanks to mifold’s hifold fit and fold highback booster seat, which has been featured in the iconic TIME magazine’s 100 Best Inventions of 2020.
Each year, TIME highlights inventions that are making the world better and smarter, with a judging panel of industry experts, editors and correspondents around the world. The multi-award-winning product – which was designed by Worcestershire-based JMDA Design in partnership with the inspiring team at mifold – made this year’s list thanks to its ground-breaking design, combining effectiveness and creativity with real-life practicality.
The hifold fit-and-fold booster seat has already won a number of other awards for innovative design, including the International Design Award (IDA) Gold Winner in 2018 and a German Design Award 2020.
“We are absolutely thrilled that the hifold child car seat booster has been recognised as one of the top 100 best inventions of 2020 by Time magazine,” said Derrick Barker, founder and director at JMDA Design. “Working with the highly acclaimed Jon Sumroy, ceo at mifold, we have helped develop a cutting-edge product that provides a practical solution for parents and childcare providers worldwide.”
“A lot of innovation went into the design of the hifold but the core driver is always safety. There were many design challenges we faced and had to overcome, but working with the team at mifold we developed the compact and foldable hifold design to meet safety regulations, bringing a unique concept to reality,” said Derrick. “Our ongoing relationship with mifold to produce innovative child car seat designs continues to go from strength-to-strength.”
