Hippychick is preparing to take vital aid supplies out to Poland, Romania, Hungary and Moldova at the end of this week, having collected essential items from the toy and nursery industries to help the humanitarian effort for Ukraine.
The company has been lent the 40′ curtain-sided Hippychick liveried trailer, as well as its Sprinter van to make the journey, with Jeremy Minchin, joint md, and two colleagues driving the van and two HGV drivers bringing the lorry.
The company has been collecting items including first aid kits, camping mats, sleeping bags, warm blankets, thermal clothes and underwear of different sizes, hot water bottles, baby food and formula, nappies, sanitary products, toothbrushes and toothpaste, wet wipes and batteries, having originally put out a plea for help last week.
On Monday (7 March), Hippychick had around 20 pallets committed of items from the list (the lorry takes around 30 Euro pallets, 2.2m high).
The journey is expected to begin on Friday night/Saturday morning, with the team driving straight to Krakow where one of its Polish suppliers is connected to the aid network and has arranged a team to warehouse and distribute the load.
For those who want to know more about getting involved, simply contact Jeremy or Julia by clicking on their respective names.
Alternatively, a local fundraising page has been set up here, with the money being used to buy additional essential items and/or support the fuel costs of the journey.
