Graco launches car seat safety hub

When it comes to selecting the right car seat, Graco has consumer questions covered with the launch of its new initiative – S.A.F.E Journeys.

Research by Graco has shown that safety in the car when travelling with children is the top priority for 87% of parents, yet only a quarter are confident that they know what the different car seat safety standards mean. 81% also admitted to feeling nervous when taking their first car journey with a new baby.

This insight fuelled the creation of S.A.F.E Journeys – a new addition to The Graco Village, which provides support on car seat safety with the promise ‘When you can’t hold them, we will’.

S.A.F.E Journeys is packed with simplified advice on the existing car seat standards R44 and R129 and uses the word S.A.F.E as a memorable way to remember the key points of the latest R129 standard:

S – Size of your child. R129 compatibility is measured by the height of the child.

A – Advanced Side Impact Protection. R129 seats have improved side impact to protect the child in the event of a collision.

F – Fitting formulas ensure the car seat fits the car.

E – Extended rearward facing. R129 means children need to stay rear facing until a minimum of 15 months. Graco is recommending rearward travel up to four years of age, where applicable.

The hub also includes parent experiences and information from a range of experts, including Halfords and accessory specialist LittleLife. A biomechanist and movement expert from Brytespark also gives advice on movement breaks.

Graco is also now an official supporter of Brake, the road safety charity. Graco is supporting Brake in raising awareness of its work to improve the safety of our roads.

Laura Challis, corporate fundraising manager at Brake, commented: “We’re delighted to welcome Graco UK as an official Brake supporter and we’d like to thanks them for supporting us in our goal to reduce road death and injury.”

Luisa Rollins-Svensson, consumer and trade marketing manager at Graco UK, added: “Graco has proudly been trusted by families to keep children safe it its car seats for over 60 years and it’s important that we add value for consumers.

“We know there is unnecessary confusion when it comes to selecting car seats and we have aimed to reduce confusion and simplify the process. S.A.F.E Journeys not only provides clarity on safety standards, but it shares parent stories and advice from a range of experts, so families feel more confident in their decision making.”
