Having launched its ‘Helping out in the Home Corner’ initiative this summer, Casdon Toys has now boosted 100 role-play areas in schools across the country.
100 reception classes received the special Casdon Home Corner packs, which aimed to enrich the classroom environment and give children and teachers resources to support and develop meaningful role-play activities.
The packs were full of activity sheets, certificates and stickers for children to take home, as well as child-sized home corner favourites from Casdon’s best-selling range of toys including Henry and Hetty Vacuum Cleaners and Cleaning Trolleys, a mini Morphy Richards Microwave and Kitchen Set plus a Pan Set, Play Food Set as well as Electronic Washer and Wash Day Set – all of which are also favourites with preschoolers.
98% of the schools that took part said that the toys and resources helped the children settle into their new classroom surroundings at the start of term and provided an opportunity for them to engage with their new classmates through play.
Almost all of the teachers that took part said that their classroom’s home corner had needed updating – and that they wouldn’t have been able to afford to do it otherwise.
“Casdon was built on my grandfather’s belief that toys need to have a role in children’s learning and development as well as being fun to play with,” commented Phil Cassidy, md of Casdon Toys. “We’ve been thrilled to see the reception the Home Corner packs have had in schools and to note such active and engaged play in the pictures the teachers have kindly shared with us. Some of the children have even gone to the trouble of writing us thank you letters. We’re delighted to have played a part in their introduction to school.”
Following the success of this year’s campaign, Casdon has confirmed that it will be running a similar initiative with schools in 2022.
