Kent Help for Ukraine is looking for more donations to help with the Ukraine crisis, with Bigjigs Toys continuing to coordinate the logistical effort.
In the last month, 12 lorries have been donated and delivered to Ukraine packed with supplies. Over 30 Kent schools have also helped with the donations.
In May, an exclusive auction will be held at The Chambers in Folkestone to help raise much needed funds.
Offering a physical donation is one thing, but coordinating 40ft lorries to Ukraine has been something else. Colleagues in the trade have been very generous in their donations of lorries, consumables and money for fuel and many Kentish groups have raised funds via all manner of events.
The logistical effort needed volunteers to sort, box and label, then palletize the goods for loading. Best value lorries have been sought with drivers insured to travel into Ukraine and deliver the aid where it has been most needed. Bigjigs Toys coordinated the logistical effort of Kent Help for Ukraine and has to date dispatched 12 40ft lorries of aid to eastern Europe. Lorry number 13 is due to leave Folkestone after the Easter weekend.
Items being sought for donation include nappies, baby wipes, sanitary products, baby food, food and drink (long-lasting), warm socks and hats, other clothing, medicine, toiletries, blankets and bedding.
You can also make a monetary donation to fund the cost of the lorries driving to Eastern Europe here.
Donations can be sent to Bigjigs at Units G&H, West Park Farm Industrial Estate, Kingsmead, Folkestone, Kent CT19 5EU.
The warehouse is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9am-5pm, but is closed on Bank Holidays.
