Andersen Press will mark #ElmerDay2020 via official website and free YouTube activities.
Andersen Press has moved its annual celebration of Elmer the Patchwork Elephant to an online-only, at-home activity for 2020.
Taking place on Saturday May 23, the event usually sees bookshops, libraries, schools and nurseries getting involved with special events.
However, this year everything will be available for free at elmerday.co.uk and Andersen Press’ YouTube channel.
This will include a bumper at-home activity pack, a new video reading of Elmer and the Rainbow (by Jospeh Coelho) on YouTube and social media, plus a message for everyone involved to wear their brightest colours.
Partners will also be sharing new material via online and social channels. A special Seven Stories weekly storytime on Friday May 22 will be the new book, Elmer’s Birthday; Waterstones will share a special video of David McKee reading Elmer; Discovery Story Centre will share Elmer and the Rainbow, read by its story builders; anti-bullying charity, Kidscape has made its weekly activity pack a celebration of Elmer Day; while celebrity readings by Rita Ora and Nathalie Emmanuel of Elmer books will take place on Save the Children’s Save with Stories campaign, plus Capital Breakfast host Sian Welby reading for Coram Beanstalk.
Further links for Andersen Press content will include a song from the Elmer touring theatre show, Seven Stories’ mini-documentary on David from its exhibition Elmer and Friends and further readings on the YouTube channel.
