Value retailer launched new range in time for Christmas season to acclaim.
Value retailer Aldi signaled its intentions to take on the major players in the toy sector, launching a new range of classic wooden toys in time for the Christmas season.
The discount supermarket said it was looking to capitalise on the renewed demand for wooden toys during the festive period.
It had previously enjoyed success in the wooden toy sector back in 2016, with the whole range selling out online in less than a week.
The FSC-certified wooden toy line-up included classic and modern options, such as a Wooden Theatre, Workbench and Pirate Ship.
Julie Ashfield, md for corporate buying at Aldi, commented: “We have also noticed an increased call for wooden toys that are based on modern kitchen appliances, as children love to mimic their parents.”
“To meet this demand, we have introduced new wooden play versions of the gadgets found in kitchens up and down the country, including an espresso machine, stand mixer and even a smoothie maker.”
Julie continued: “We work hard to ensure we maintain high-quality products, which is why all our wooden toys are FSC-certified, but we also ensure they’re great-value and competitively priced.”
Prices for the line – which was part of Aldi’s Specialbuys – ranged from £4.99 up to £69.99.
