Frugi partners with Clarks

Sustainable childrenswear brand, Frugi, has launched a fun collection of footwear for kids in collaboration with the UK shoe brand, Clarks.

Working closely with the design and product teams to create fantastic footwear, the collection combines Clarks’ expert knowledge in construction and shape, alongside Frugi’s signature colours and design.

With a shared vision to care for the planet, this collaboration has inspired more sustainable choices in the materials used in almost every component, from soles to laces, resulting in the first collection of kids organic cotton shoes for both Frugi and Clarks.

Offering a range of bright and fun designs, including florals, rainbows and ocean creatures, each pair of shoes is machine washable and crafted with organic cotton and recycled materials.

Expertly crafted for pre-walkers, first step-takers and adventurous kids of all ages, each shoe’s canvas uppers are made from 100% organic cotton with 100% organic cotton lining.

Recycled stitching threads (100% recycled post-consumer polyester), webbing tapes (100% recycled PET plastic), eyelets (50% recycled materials) and elastic laces (60% recycled materials) have been used across the collection and the durable rubber soles contain 10% recycled rubber.

Rosie McKissock, head of kids product at Clarks, commented: “With nearly 200 years of experience in kids footwear, Clarks has a long history in exciting creative partnerships and driving product innovation. As such we know that sometimes two heads are better than one when it comes to generating new ideas. Our partnership with Frugi has been really inspiring – allowing both brands to use their own unique personalities and expertise to design an irresistible footwear collection.

“We’re all so proud that the Clarks x Frugi collection not only looks and feels fantastic, but has allowed us a platform to really explore how to get the most from sustainable materials and approaches in kids footwear.”

Jeni Bolton, product and brand director of Frugi, added: “As a life-long admirer of Clarks, having worn their shoes as a child and now my own children wearing them, I am delighted to see the strengths of both brands come together. With Clarks’ trusted expertise in well-fitting children’s footwear and Frugi’s child-centric colourful design, the partnership felt perfect.

“We were incredibly excited to have this opportunity to combine our shared ethos of producing long-lasting ‘hand me down’ quality footwear for children to wear and play in, and pass down again and again. Working together with the Clarks product team through the design process was a joy; bringing our sustainable design approach to create footwear that is not only beautifully colourful but also kinder to the planet.”

The Clarks x Frugi collaboration launches on www.welovefrugi.com and www.clarks.co.uk on Monday 13 March 2023.
