Spielwarenmesse boost as Germany changes travel rules

A change in the travel rules for Germany has given a boost to those from the UK who are looking to attend or exhibit at Spielwarenmesse next month.

The latest news is that all ‘areas of virus variants of concern’ – including the UK – have been downgraded to ‘high risk areas’.

Individuals who have been fully vaccinated or have recovered from Covid-19 are now allowed to enter the country without the need to quarantine. In addition, there are exceptions for unvaccinated trade fair participants from high risk areas. Such visitors are permitted to enter with a negative test result and to stay for up to five days.

“We are pleased at this development, which gives interested buyers from the UK the opportunity to visit the Spielwarenmesse,” commented Christian Ulrich, spokesperson for the executive board of Spielwarenmesse eG.

The show is due to take place from 2-6 February in Nuremberg.

A regularly updated overview of the latest changes is available on the website of AUMA, the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry, at: www.auma.de/en/exhibit/legal-matters/entry-requirements.
