The Entertainer embraces Recycle Week with its Big Toy Rehoming campaign

Monday 20 September marked the beginning of Recycle Week and, to mark the occasion, toy retailer The Entertainer is encouraging the public to get involved with its Big Toy Rehoming campaign, in partnership with The Salvation Army.

Following its launch in 2019, The Big Toy Rehoming campaign has successfully found a new home for over 35,000 toys. The initiative is now a year-round campaign to The Entertainer stores nationwide.

Families are urged to bring any suitable toys which are no longer played with to any of the 171 The Entertainer stores and these toys will then be passed onto The Salvation Army.

The initiative aims to reduce the number of toys that could find their way into landfill by giving toys no longer played with a new lease of life, while aiming to support the 4.1 million underprivileged children living in poverty across the country via The Salvation Army.

“Recycle Week is the perfect time to shine a light on our Big Toy Rehoming campaign in partnership with The Salvation Army,” commented Gary Grant, founder and executive chairman of The Entertainer. “We are encouraging the public to be involved and bring any toys in need of a new home to their nearest store for us to rehome.

“This not only prevents the toys from finding their way into landfill but also supports the work of The Salvation Army in helping families in need.”

Kirk Bradley, head of corporate partnerships at Salvation Army Trading Company, added: “We are delighted to be involved with the Big Toy Rehoming campaign again this year. This is a great way for families to have a clear out in the run up to the Christmas and give pre-loved toys a new lease of life. We’ve seen the number of toys donated increase by tens of thousands each year, and we want to say thank you to everyone for getting behind this important campaign.”
