Baby and maternity retailer Motherare has announced that Mark Newton-Jones has stepped down as its executive director, although he will continue to serve on the board as a non-executive director, subject to his re-election at the next AGM.
In a statement, Mothercare chairman, Clive Whiley said: “I would like to thank Mark for his contribution to the business over what has proved to be a turbulent period and I am delighted that we will be able to call upon his retail experience as we go forward.”
Mark previously stepped down as Mothercare ceo earlier this year, staying on as an executive director in order to complete the ongoing ‘transformation plan’ which has been fundamental to the retailer’s strategy over recent years.
Mothercare also recently revealed that its franchise deal with Boots has been delayed following the ‘direct consequences’ of Covid-19, while the group will be making the move to a ‘smaller and more cost-effective’ head office in early August 2020.
