“Car seat law is still confusing;” Peg Perego’s Phil Howe talks multi-stage seats

Phil Howe, country manager UK & Ireland for Peg Perego talks to PreschoolNews.net about the benefits of multi-stage seats, why parents love them and what the company has in store for Harrogate.

How have multi-stage car seats developed over recent years and what benefits do they offer consumers?

“Every parent will agree that safety is a key priority for their children, yet car seat law is still confusing. We find this contributes to the appeal of a multi-stage car seat. A combination of peace of mind, that the seat will grow with the child and value-for-money that this one seat will keep their child safe for as long as it is needed. This is what is driving multi-stage car seat sales for us.”

Why should retailers include multi-stage car seats as part of their product offering?

“Parents are looking for peace of mind and longer term solutions. Limited worry, less waste and value for money. Basically, products that will make their lives easier. The multi-stage car seat is a perfect example of this.”

What is your current hero product in this sector and why it is so special?

“Our current best-selling car seat is the Viaggio Flex 2-3. It was awarded Gold in the 2018 MadeforMums and the Best Baby Gear Awards. It’s a really innovative piece of kit and will keep a child safe from 15 to 36kg (3 to 12 years approx)
It grows with the child and adjusts in four different directions, which are all independent from one another. Another very popular feature with parents is that the seat folds into a compact, convenient box shape and has an integrated carry handle for when not in use.”

Are you developing any exciting innovations for the future?

“Our car seat range is a key focus for innovation and you will be seeing some exciting developments over the next 12 months, starting with the Viaggio FF105 forward-facing seat, which enables parents to keep using their i-Size base for longer. We’re launching it at Harrogate this weekend so I’m looking forward to seeing the response!”

The FF105 will be officially launched at Harrogate International Nursery Fair, which opens this Sunday, 24 March, and runs until Tuesday 26 March.
