A spokesperson said Mothercare had observed a shift towards more ‘imaginative’ toys – from toy kitchens to work benches, farmyard sets and dolls’ houses.
“There has most certainly been a switch in consumer demand away from just technology-based toys,” she said.
“We have gone back to incorporating more traditional play that really nurtures early child development, which sparks children’s imagination, cognition and early concentration skills,” she continued. “Our top toys for Christmas have been carefully selected to reflect consumer demand in our key toy categories.”
Hamleys, Very.co.uk and Argos have all released their top picks for Christmas over the last few weeks, ahead of the pre-Christmas shopping rush.
